Stepping in as interim
Make sure you have the relevant facts before forming any opinions. Let others express themselves, show genuine openness but be cunning. Don’t take any communication from people at face value. Be prepared to have difficult conversations and difficult decisions. Establish metrics, define baseline and set targets. Conduct surveys and questionnaires, shake up and thematize discussions. If you wanted the full-time role and didn’t get it, start looking elsewhere. Take as much learning as possible with you.
