Saying no
Quit the habit of pleasing people for it is a downward spiral. Prioritize your own needs over the needs of others. Help yourself first as in case of cabin pressure dropping on an airplane. Be direct, honest, and respectful. Don’t prolong the situation by stalling for time. Say no accompanied by sorry. Resist the urge to offer explanations or even worst, excuses. Accept responsibility for your decision. Offer an alternative, recommend others who might be able to help. Be persistent, don’t go into negotiating your conclusion. Acknowledge that you are not responsible for the reactions and feelings of others.
