Being new in leadership position
Get to know your people the soonest. Assess the need for personal changes in the team. Learn the work of your predecessor and the reason of her separation. If she was unprofessional (jerk), the expectation is high on you but you have a jump start. If she was popular, expect disappointment, resistance, even attacks. Have semi-informal chats with each of them, in person. Take every opportunity showing them that you are fair, reliable, and professional. Don’t postpone delivering tough messages. Some might remain hostile towards you, despite all of your effort. Consider transferring or firing those.
