Work on his convenience, solve those issues he dislikes dealing with, let him follow the results only. Flatter him face to face, never say a bad word about him behind his back. Let him take credit for some of your work. Be around him, stand out the crowd. Never argue with him, let him forget the problem quickly. Wait until he gets back his sunny mood. Ask him only if you are sure that he knows the answer. Don’t correct him ever. In case there is absolutely no other choice, gently compare his view of self with reality (and be prepared for the worst). Befriend with those he likes in the organization.
