Sticking to the guidelines
Recognize the double standard that companies apply for compliance. There is difference between theory and practice. Don’t believe in the "comply or else" posters and declarations. Learn what the real expectations of the workplace are. Use guidelines as flexibly as your boss and coworkers do. Share or divert blame or provide an explanation should something go wrong. Find another job in case you’d be forced to violate the Five precepts (Buddhist) or Ten Commandment (Judeo-Christian) or any other absolute moral standards.
