Saying sorry
It is not the question whether apologies are a sign of strength or weakness. Make apology (only) to reconcile without responsibility or embarrassment. Learn the contexts and purposes of apologies, go beyond generalizations and stereotypes. Develop sensitivity about process, language, and purpose. Practice different uses of apologetic language, from being instrumental to heartfelt. Avoid making apology that is blatantly cynical or self-serving. Take others’ sorry in case that would not encourage bad behavior, if they are accepted.
