Dealing with workplace bullshit
Bullshit has become so widespread in the workplace that often makes entire organizations malfunction. Recognize when it is produced. Watch out for how colleagues are using meaningless language, acronyms, buzzwords, and jargon. Identify statements as BS, which lack details, sources, and logic. Speak up to confront what you consider to be BS. Ask clarifying questions (innocently) to see evidence that supports the BS. Avoid having a full-frontal face-off with powerful BS artists. Remember Brandolini’s principle that the amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude larger than is needed to produce it.
