Having a job interview
Have a short elevator pitch prepared in your mind. Stay positive, keep smiling discretely. If you do not have specific experience, get as close as you can. State that you are very well qualified for the position, regardless of your qualifications. Mention that you consider yourself successful, regardless of the circumstances. Do thorough research on the organization before the interview. Find out what are the current issues, and who are the major players. Keep the focus on what you can do for this organization. Be sure to have examples ready that you are a team player. Express your strong feelings that the job gets done. Highlight your best points as they relate to the position being discussed. Say that you thrive under certain types of pressure. Assure the interviewer that you are willing to put the interests of the organization ahead of your own. Avoid putting any label on yourself, say you will manage according to the situation. Mention that you look for these qualities in your future-boss: knowledgeable, a sense of humor, fair, loyal to subordinates, and holder of high standards. Even horrible bosses think they have these traits. Always have some questions prepared.
